UnlockMe: An App Motivating Children to Work on Fine Motor Skills

UnlockMe is an app prototype developed in the Technology for Learners class in partnership with the Open Mind School. Our user is a young child on the autism spectrum with severe delays in fine motor skills.

After a few iterations of stylus design and multiple rounds of testing, we discovered that he was most motivated to "unlock" the screen of a mobile device. Our discovery leads to an app prototype that replaces the lock screen with customized tracing/tapping games to create spontaneous learning opportunities.
